This self-paced ECMO course consists of 53 modules, covering over 80 learning objectives foundational to Adult ECMO patient care. Total learning time is 7-8 hours with knowledge checks at the end of each section. ELSO Foundations course provides individual practitioners up-to-date standards of practice & evidence-based recommendations to optimize clinical decision making. ELSO Foundations can also be used to prepare practitioners for the ELSO Adult Individual ECMO Certification Exam. ELSO will be offering this one day course on February 21 and February 22. Registration will be through SCCM. This course is designed for learners who have completed a didactic only ECMO Training Course (i.e. ELSO Foundations) or for practitioners with a strong foundational knowledge of ECMO patient care. Using patient case scenarios, VA and VV ECMO concepts are further explored. In the setting of small groups, students will have an opportunity for hands on learning and troubleshooting of clinical cases. This is a great opportunity to apply what was discussed in the multi-day lecture series. This course is structured for multidisciplinary learning at various stages of experience. This course will count for Step 2 requirements for the ELSO Adult ECMO Certification (E-AEC) application. Objective: 1. To apply practical ECMO concepts to a simulation environment 2. To allow learners hands on experience with ECMO equipment using simulation technology 3. To provide an opportunity for multidisciplinary problem solving for ECMO scenarios 4. To fulfill simulation requirements for ELSO Academy training.

Using patient case scenarios, VA and VV ECMO concepts are further explored. In the setting of small groups, students will have an opportunity for hands on learning and troubleshooting of clinical cases. This is a great opportunity to apply what was discussed in the multi-day lecture series. This course is structured for multidisciplinary learning at various stages of experience. Two one and a half day sessions are available for up to 30 learners each. Session 1: April 8th -9th, 2025. Session 2: April 10th -11th, 2025. Cost for this course: $2000.00.

April 2025 - Adult Cannulation Workshop

The target audience of the ELSO Cannulation Workshop is intensivists, cardiologists, surgeons and emergency physicians who wish to learn percutaneous ECMO cannulation. Taught by a team of international experts using realistic simulators, attendees will learn all aspects of cannulation in a hands-on setting. Each group of students will have 2 – 3 instructors to ensure individualized attention and all students will perform each specific cannulation procedure from start to finish. Specific content includes equipment selection, vessel assessment, ultrasound-guided vascular access, serial dilation, and cannula placement and securement. Instructors will emphasize the value of imaging and address complication troubleshooting. At the conclusion of the course participants will be prepared to perform percutaneous veno-venous, veno-arterial, and bi-caval ECMO cannulations at their institution. This is a one day cannulation course being offered on April 12th and April 13th, 2025. Space will be limited to only 15 registrants per day and this website will be updated as days fill up. The cost for this course is $1,950.
